Once upon a time, shoppers looking for chalav yisrael/mehadrin chocolate products from Elite had to search for the Eida Chareidit-approved Megadim line of Elite chocolates. Some time ago, this began to change as OU-Israel began certifying products under the Elite name, not the Megadim line, introducing the chalav yisrael option to the familiar Elite family. It is the first time that items manufactured under the Elite name offer this higher standard of kashrus for those who seek it.
According to OU-Israel’s Rabbi Yissacher Dov Krakowski, the new expanding line of Elite mehadrin products is all chalav yisrael when bearing the OU insignia on the package. The move appears in line with Elite’s new policy of expanding its mehadrin line in response to the growing nationwide demand.
Rabbi Krakowski reminds consumers that the OU is only responsible for Elite products displaying the OU hechsher.
