Abu Romi & Tufiq Romi Products are Prohibited

The following information is translated from the Chief Rabbinate Kashrus Enforcement Unit Update 017/2014.

Before Pesach inspectors from the Chief Rabbinate Kashrus Enforcement Unit located a quantity of treif meat in Tamra, in the Galil.  This led to a follow-up investigation and a ban on any kosher certified eatery accepting meats from Abu Romi or Tufiq Romi distribution. The prohibition includes meats that have kashrus tags attached.

The kosher tags attached to their meats indicate that the product was slaughtered in a legitimate slaughterhouse, either in Haifa or a number of other locations but this is not so.

Businesses must remember that when deliveries of meat arrive, seeing kosher tags on the product is not sufficient. The meat must be accompanied by documentation from the slaughterhouse and hashgacha.
