What Does the J. Rabbinate Teudah Represent

8 Nissan 5774
April 8, 2014

According to the Jerusalem Rabbinate, following is an explanation regarding the different levels of restaurant teudot kashrut.

Teudat Kashrut Mehadrin: (the certificate is tan)
The ingredients used in these stores are high-level kosher from the well-known badatz hashgachos. The meat and poultry are from shechitas Jerusalem Mehadrin, Badatz Sheiris Yisrael or Badatz Kehillos. Adherence to bishul yisrael in accordance to the Beis Yosef for Sephardim.

On Pesach: Without kitnios, no gebrochts and only shmura matzos are used.

Teudat Kashrut Mehuderet: (the certificate is purple)
The difference between this and the mehadrin are the meats/poultry used. In this case, the meats and poultry may be from any Rabbinate Mehadrin around the country and not necessarily from the shechitas mentioned above. Adherence to bishul yisrael in accordance to the Beis Yosef for Sephardim.

On Pesach: The teudah will detail if cooking contains kitnios or not.

Teudat Kashrut Regular Kosher: (the certificate is yellow)
Bishul yisrael in line with the Rama, for Ashkenazim only.

On Pesach: The teudah will detail if cooking contains kitnios or not.

All restaurants operating on Pesach under the J. Rabbinate must display a special teudat kashrut that is exclusively for the week of Pesach.
Publication of standards does not represent endorsement by JKN.
