The following information is taken from the Chief Rabbinate of Israel Kashrus Enforcement Unit Update 016/5774, which is dated today.
Many types of apples are grown and sold in Israel. The coating on the locally grown apples is mehadrin kosher for Pesach and year round. Regarding imported apples however, the coating used id of a different substance. Some posit it is not edible and therefore not an issue for Pesach. Other disagree and feel it is an issue.
One wishing to be stringent should peel the skins of imported apples.
