Kashrus Forgery: Marina Mushrooms of the Galil

The following bulletin was taken from the Chief Rabbinate of Israel Kashrus Enforcement Unit Update 009, dated 11 Shevat 5774

The Marine Company is marketing greens that do not have kosher certification while the packaging states “Kosher, without concerns of insect infestation. Under the supervision of the Maalot Rabbinate” alongside another mehadrin hashgacha.

This refers to nana (mint leaves) thyme, and rosemary that were detected by mashgichim in the Eilat and Dead Sea areas. Due to weather conditions which make it extremely difficult to produce such items in the supervised insect-free variety, production of the items mentioned did not take place during the last month. A check with officials in the Maalot Rabbinate confirms the kosher supervision claim is fraudulent.

These items should not be used. Regarding produce from Marina, in cases of uncertainty one is advised to check with the Maalot Rabbinate to verify the integrity of kashrus claims.

Is this referring to mushrooms, as in the headline, or is it referring to various greens (mint, thyme, rosemary) as mentioned in the article?
