Kashrus Revoked from Argaman Hall in Givat Shaul

The Argaman Hall located at 22 Beit HaDfus Street in the Givat Shaul neighborhood of Jerusalem has lost its kashrus certification. It was certified by the Jerusalem Rabbinate and Badatz Bnei Tzion, Rabbi Bentzion Mutzafi.

Meat lacking kosher identification was found on the premises. An effort was made by both the rabbinate and badatz to provide the owner with an opportunity to explain the situation – the fact that meat lacking kosher tags was found, meat that had tags attached with Arabic writing.

The owner did not cooperate, but instead threatened the mashgichim. As a result, the rabbinate had no other option but to remove its kashrus and notify the public. Needless to say Rabbi Mutzafi removed his hashgacha too.

Below is the letter released by the Jerusalem Rabbinate Kashrus Division.

What do you suppose will happen now?

    Different possible scenarios:

    A) He closes down his business for good.

    B) He apologizes, and two weeks later the certification is restored.

    C) Some other clown steps in and offers him supervision, ignoring the fact that this guy can’t be trusted…

Non of the above. The store will reopen under “new” ownership with the same or better hechsher.

I promise you that alternative A won’t happen. I’m not a prophet or a ben navi, but I’ve seen a lot of things happen in my life, and a lot that don’t.

Re: A Mashgiach Who Says He Cares ►

    A) The caterer will not close down his business for good as he is a charlatan. He will merely change the name of the business and put it in his wife’s or brother’s name.
    B) You don’t know Rav Mustafi otherwise, you would not make that statement.
    C) I find your definition of rabbis involved in kashrut as clowns insulting and ditasteful. Equally, I call into question your stellar character as a reliable mashgiach considering your lack of derech eretz for rabbinei kashrut. You give no credit to the JKN posting above, the original Hebrew version disseminated by the Chief Rabbinate and the newspaper announcement.

Rav Mustafi should first take him to an independent Bet Din then once that has been accomplished a Bet Mishpat suing him for misrepresentation and also putting a tzav against him that he can never be involved with any food establishment for the next 25 years.
