From Chief Rabbinate Kashrus Update 019/5773

Rujum Winery located in Mitzpei Rimon has begun marketing its product under the “hashgacha” of the Conservative Movement. The Chief Rabbinate does not authorize this body to give kosher supervision and therefore, the product is banned from all establishments with supervision from a local Rabbinate.

Ask yourselves why do conservatives need a hashgacha on wine? Heh!

I thought it was illegal to mark any product “Kosher” unless it has a hechsher from a recognised Rabbanut. Or is this not marked as kosher just “Under the supervision of ….”?

The certification includes the words “The above-mentioned supervision is not a ‘Kosher certificate.’” See http://www.haaretz.com/weekend/week-s-end/.premium-1.544459 for more details.

Ask Shy Guy why he can write such things in Elul.
