BenHaim Winery is Under Badatz Beit Yosef

I have written to the folks at Badatz Beit Yosef but based on the hashgacha’s website database search, BenHaim Winery is under its supervision.

The website states the winery is under its supervision and enjoys a mehadrin level of supervision.

This was confirmed in the form of an email by an official in the hashgacha.

So the saga ends. The Chief Rabbinate wrote it does not have a local rabbinate supervision and is in violation of the law.

The OK Kashrus wrote it does not supervise the winery despite a claim to the contrary on the winery’s website.

At the end of the day I tracked down its supervision and confirmed it with Badatz Beit Yosef. As far as a local rabbinate, I do not know, but I do know the winery has a badatz hashgacha from a reputable agency.

However it is technically not Kosher thus by law no event can have their wine whilst stating it is Kosher, and no store can claim that all their wines are Kosher till it is removed from their shelves. I know at least one store plans to remove it from their shelves.

Furthermore I attempted to clarify this matter with the winery on their facebook page and their response accused me of fraud rather than explaining the situation. I for one will not be touching their wines.
