More Tu B’Shevat Information: From the CRC

10 Shevat 5772

February 3, 2012

dried-fruit4Earlier this week I published information for inspecting fruits, dried and fresh for 15 Shevat, in Hebrew and English, directed for residents of Eretz Yisrael.

Here are sheets in Yiddish and English from the CRC (Central Rabbinical Congress of the USA & Canada) for those of you in North America.

Once again, I remind readers that checking fruits, especially dried fruits, requires a level of expertise and this is not to be taken lightly.

It is advised that one takes a class to learn how to do this properly for it is a skill that we use in our daily lives and ingesting insects chas v’sholom is a most serious matter, a violation of a D’oraisa, a Torah prohibition.

The CRC Tu Bi’shvat poster is sponsered by the Klein’s company. Klein’s is certified by CRC Hisachdus, OK, Debrecin Rav. When CRC baneed raisins due to infestation, Klein’s used the Debricin emblem. When the OK banned Dried cherries, the Klein Company only used CRC. Therefore one should not rely on them.

The stated methods for figs, raisins, etc are unacceptable, even for the ones that may think they know hot to identify certain insects that are not camoflaoged.
