Regarding Chief Rabbanut Kashrut update 23/2010, it appears the Kashrut Enforcement Division erred regarding the above-mentioned item, number three in the Kashrut update.
Thousand Island dressing is, and has always been, PARVE! The OU-D on the original manufacturer’s label is an error; the importer’s sticker is actually correct.
This is very important as to alleviate fears regarding mixing milchig (dairy) and fleishig (meat), kashering dishes, etc.
Rabbi Rafi Yochai, who heads the Kashrut Enforcement Division of the Chief Rabbinate has been informed regarding the inaccuracy of the alert.
Also, this product is no longer in the marketplace and new product bears the correct OU on the original label as well as the importer’s sticker.
SEE item number three in the translation of the Chief Rabbinate Update, 23/2010.
