In and Around Jerusalem’s Central Bus Station [Mehadrin]

Motzei Shabbos, October 17, 2009

The following is an updated report on the status of eateries in and around Jerusalem’s Central Bus Station. I did not have time to speak with mashgichim, so I decided to at least provide readers with an updated list of eateries with a legitimate mehadrin hechsher.

I hope to contact the mashgichim in the not-too-distant future blei neder and then I will pass whatever I learn on to you, the JKN readers. For now, view this as a photo essay providing names of eateries and their mehadrin hechsher.

I begin with Shar Ha’ir Building and ends with Massov Burger, on Jaffa Street. The area past Massov I consider the Center 1 jurisdiction, and therefore not listed in this report.

If you rely on a particular hechsher and wish to eat in a place, but have questions, the number of the person to call appears on the kashrut certificates of each store, visible on the photos on the website, so you can do so as well.

Inside the Jerusalem Central Bus Station – I must add a warning here, that a number of stores, including the Burgers Bar in the bus station say “mehadrin” on the store sign but do not have a mehadrin kashrut certificate.
I must add that there are also stores exhibiting unauthorized mehadrin signs. They are not included in this photo essay

Great list! It’s an area I go through a lot and it’s good to know what stores are not even worth looking at. Thank you.

Is Corus Cafe the same as Neeman? The certificate says Neeman Koma 2.

Sharona: Cafe stores in Israel can get very confusing as sometimes they are more than one franchise. If you look at the photo you will see the store is also called Neeman.

I think there is a real reason for Shaona’s question-it says only Neman secon floor and does not say Corus! (Could be the picture of Corus’s hechsher was misplaced?
