The first order of business is the Machane Yehuda Shuk walking kashrut tours. All the dates are booked solid, wait-listed, with the exception of Tuesday, August 8th at 9:30am. A number of slots remain. Please do not request a slot on the others since there is no room.
I continue to receive many many requests to inquire as to the status of restaurants. Time does not permit me checking each place but I decided at the very least to try to update the site with a posting of stores and their current kashrut certification. I urge subscribers to remain vigilant, and always check an eatery’s kashrut certificate before ordering any food, since changes occur, in many cases, more frequently than most might believe.
In addition, remember, restaurant website are far from up-to-date in many cases and the kashrut listing is not always reliable.
Following is a listing of stores, primarily in the German Colony area of Jerusalem. There is also a listing or two from Tiberias and Tzfat. While I did not have time to check their operation, I did validate that they have current legitimate kashrut certifications.
For those of you viewing this on email, please visit the website to review the list and photos of the stores mentioned.

I would like to point out that the “Milk” restaurant has a legitimate J. Rabbinate, but is accompanied by an unauthorized Nachlat Yitzchak, claiming to be mehadrin.

Thank you for being so informative again. I understand that you cannot visit them all. But what about GRILL PLUS that is not a restaurant but has take out food and catering and seems to always be full when we pass it, thus obviously popular. We’ve called to talk to the mashgiach and been given the run around. Most times he is not there but somewhere else. And when we have spoken to him he only had a minute. It is as if they are saying ‘if you want to, then buy here, otherwise, don’t – we have enough business. Do they really do the cooking elsewhere and bring it in? And from where do they get their chickens – we couldn’t get a straight answer.
A lot of us would appreciate knowing how reliable they are “TODAY”. They used to be when we knew one of the workers many moons ago.
Thank you again. Manya
