Tzuriel Dairy Products

A short time ago, I spoke with Rabbi Aryeh Meiroff, the mashgiach from Agudat Yisrael for Tzuriel Dairy. I also spoke with the production manager, Gilad. The conversation addressed a recent report from the Chief Rabbinate regarding the company giving up its Chug Chatam Sofer mehadrin certification, as I posted recently.

What the Chief Rabbinate posting failed to report is the company was purchased by Tara Dairy and as such, its dairy line will now bear the kashrus of Badatz Agudas Yisrael. I was prompted to make the calls after seeing the product in a Jerusalem supermarket with a new packaging label with the new certification.

At present, about 95% of the dairy line carries the badatz mehadrin of Agudah, with the exception of three “French cheeses” which they label as exclusive hard cheeses. It appears they will remain non-mehadrin in the future as well.
Regarding the firm’s comprehensive soya line, it is currently regular rabbinate supervision but the mashgiach and Gilad the manager predict these products will also have the mehadrin supervision in the coming months, estimating the changeover will take about three months. That is the current plan anyway.

Anyway, for those of you pleased with the change, enjoy, just in time for Shavuot cheese cake and related dairy dishes.
